I think both sides of this issue are partially right, and partially
wrong.  Unfortunately it is very easy to design a study methodology that
will create results to support your desired conclusion.  As a white
parent to black children, this is near and dear to me.  I want my
children to be able to fit in both the black community and the white
community.  I am very proud of their heritage and strive every day to
make sure they are as well.  I would invite anyone who is interested, to
an intellectually stimulating discussion/debate over this issue (over a
cup of coffee, not e-mail).  In fact I would love to see the AA hold a
forum to discuss it.

Please read these. Our children are depending on us and we need to stop
buying into the "acting white" mythology that serves to absolve the
majority culture educational administration from making a real effort to
educate our children. It's easier on them if they can blame the kids for
not educating themselves.
