Thanks to everyone.  I got two or three good suggestions -- I believe it
was Debby and the gal from Colorado -- after I'd turned off the computer
last night, so I'll try those if the sore throat comes back.  I took
peppermint tea, some honey, and lemon, and put it in a thermos so she
could sip it through the night.  It was a hit!  She had warm tea to
soothe her throat the entire night.
