We refer to those, when on timbers way up in a roof system, as "Superman
footprints.

The first (good) client we built a frame for has a beam at the bottom of his
main staircase that is covered with grubby handprints from the raising. When
I offered to refinish it he refused because it was the handprints of all his
friends that had helped raise his house.

Luckily I was the freelance artichoke of record so I agreed completely.
