I was diagnosed with Celiac's 2 years ago and have been on a strict gluten
free diet. During that time, I have had the occasional bloating that is
only temporary. For the past 2 months, I have had extreme bloating and
discomfort that will not go away. I had a blood test that showed my
antibodies were normal, and a breath test that showed I had a bacterial
overgrowth - I was put on xifaxan for 10 days. From the day I started the
medication, my bloating got worse, and has not returned to normal. Since
then, I was told to take a probiotic and am now on tetracycline which is
supposed to rid the bacterial overgrowth (since apparently the first
medication didn't work).
Every time I eat the smallest amount of food or water, my stomach blows up
and I experience pain and discomfort. I feel very full when not eating.
If anyone has ever experienced anything like this, I'd love to hear your
suggestions on what I can do to get rid of this or cure my pain and discomfort.
Thanks,
Melissa
