Dear AAM discussion list subscribers,
Some time ago, users of the MAELSTROM discussion list system hosted by St. John's University were informed that the service will no longer be offered after February 1, 2006. Since then, we have been exploring and testing alternatives to the MAELSTROM service, and many of you have kindly helped us with testing.
We have been invited to migrate our discussion list to a new system called ICORS for nonprofit organizations. Here is a statement of ICOR's mission:
The purpose of the corporation is to assist individuals and groups (clients) which offer support, information, and community to those in need, including those affected by disability, family issues, health issues, and other similar needs. To provide this assistance the corporation will offer its clients technical assistance and services, including Internet services.
This new system appears to be a very good alternative that will offer us stability over the long term. Our migration to this new system is slated to take place tomorrow, Tuesday, January 31, 2006...BEFORE the MAELSTROM list shuts down. Apologies for the last-minute notice about this final migration. To help make the migration successful, please take note of the following:
** The changeover tomorrow should be straight-forward but the list will be put ON HOLD for several hours while the migration is being done for us.
** After the changeover, you should still be subscribed with the same ability to post and receive messages as before.
** We ask for your patience through this change process. If you encounter problems, please send an email describing the problem you are having as completely as possible. If you are not able to get a message through to the list, please send a message to my personal account -- [log in to unmask] -- until we work out any bugs in the new system.
** Please update your spam filters, address books, and favorites to include the following new addresses, which should be used for posting and list maintenance after the migration is done:
Use the following new addresses:
[log in to unmask] -- to send messages to the list
[log in to unmask] -- to send messages to the list owner(s)
[log in to unmask] -- to send email commands to the Listserv software
http://listserv.icors.org/archives/AAM.html -- to access list archives on the Web
When you send requests to the list owners, you may be asked to confirm your request, either by clicking on a Web link or by responding "OK" to an emailed confirmation request. This will help avoid excessive spam to the list owners.
** We hope the migration will be successful and painless. Many of us have come to rely on this list for news, information, and community, and we hope to continue and improve on that tradition with this new service.
