I would love to start eating raw beef. I just don't trust my local grocery chain store as my son-in-law works in the butcher department and has advised regarding their unsanitary and unhealthy meat department.
One thing my brother and I were discussing was purchasing a whole steer from a grass-fed only ranch here in California and dividing it. The only hold back for me is storage. I live in an apartment and don't have the freezer capacity.
I really dislike any poultry and have a very hard time with fish. I'm trying really hard eat fish, but can only tolerate bbq salmon very infrequently. Quite frankly, I never feel satisfied after eating fish or poultry. I also have a hard time with organ meat. I just can't bring myself to eat it. The idea of organ meat doesn't bother me. I just have a very strong gag reflex (since a child) and texture really gets to me. (To be fair, I was never even able to eat things like pudding, yogurt, mashed potatoes, pastas, ice cream, either) I really only love the taste of fatty beef. I have added beef heart and can eat that after boiling a bit. The liver smell (and texture) gets to me, as does the heart. I don't even know where to buy kidneys or brains, etc., other than purchasing from a ranch directly.
I wonder how I can desensitize myself in order to add other things like poultry (I really dislike chicken and turkey), fish, lamb??
