And compare the number of users of the two products. It's much easier to
monitor public lists when you have the number of users that W-E does. This
is not a commentary on the quality of W-e, only on the fact that it's vastly
easier to monitor a product list when you don't have as many users. How many
W-E public lists are there as compared to the number of JAWS lists? What
presence do Microsoft or Symantec or any other major third party product
have on the public lists devoted to _their_ products? Also, given some of
the manners displayed on this list whenever the subject comes up, would
_you_ want to try to represent FS when every smart-ass with a chip on their
shoulder is taking cheap shots at you? I've subscribed to the W-E lists in
the past and can tell you that they _never_ get the kind of crap thrown at
them that FS does simply because they're the biggest kid on the block, same
as Microsoft. I guess people who go through life feeling like they've been
oppressed feel like no matter the subject, whomever the biggest fish is
should be speared. That's juvenile behavior, of course, but ....
And your statement that "you have to go to JFW school" in order to learn how
to script for JAWS is simply wrong.

That's one of my major problems with Freedom Scientiffic. Since the
window-eyes is moderated by the people who write and market the
software, their is a direct link between customer and author.
It's kind of philosophical I guess, but my issue is where does the
control of the software lie. With jfw's very powerful scripting
language, you have to go to jfw school to learn how to write
scripts. Since they charge for that, it is reasonable that the
writers of scripts must charge for their work.
Since window-eyes uses a different model, people who create set files
for applications, share them willingly and freely. Their are
certainly places where jfw talks better and more automatically, but
those scripts are therefore much more volnerable to changes in a
program's look and feel if a new upgrade comes out. I have fought
enough to be able to do it myself, to want to be dependant when it
comes to my software.
