Hello - I had a recent EGD with biopsy "suspicious for celiac sprue." Blood tests ("gluten antibody tests") - were negative. History is could be consistent with celiac disease (major life event --> rash that fits description of DH + gastritis). The latter has been slowly progressive over many (20) years to GERD and abnormal EGD result. Rash still comes and goes. I am of Irish ancestry.
MD was pleasant, but did not really listen..."since the blood test was negative...I don't have it." He does not know what I have, though. The MD is a well-respected GI doc in the community with 25 years of experience.
So, I am having further blood drawn to r/o Crohn's.
But, can I have CD with negative blood tests? It is not that I WANT this at all, but my reading of information on celiac disease is SO consistent with my history and would explain numerous medical mysteries....
Any advice appreciated. Beth
