Yep.  I wrote about a home made antenna I built for ham radio and mailed it
to World Radio Magazine many years ago.  they printed in two parts in back
to back monthly issues.  They paid me five dollars for it.  I sent them, a
few months later, a second article about all the talking devices for blind
ham operators.  They printed it, too, but they didn't pay me for it.  You
can't imagine what that five dollar check did to me though.  It felt like a
million dollars.
