Join the Gluten Intolerance Group (GIG) in a very educational and enjoyable
conference in Salt Lake City, UT June 8-11, 2006.
The Kids Day Camp Program (for children 5 to 15) will teach the different age
groups about celiac disease in other countries. They will have cooking, craft
and cultural activities for Ireland, Italy, Canada, France and Japan. Chef
Aaron working with the children and Trick-'r Treating the exhibitors are only
two of the many activities and highlights of the three days. The Kids Day Camp
Program is age appropriate with special Teen Activities. Childcare is available
for children under 5 years old.
The General Program has three days of great programs.
Friday is "All about Food" - lectures on labeling, gluten-free diet, dining
out while traveling, meal planning on a budget, and more. Cooking
demonstrations are always a highlight and will cover whole grains, tea party treats,
cooking naturally gluten-free, etc.
Friday evening - several Salt Lake City restaurants are identified for gluten
free meals so that you may dine in comfort and relax with your family, new
and familiar friends.
Saturday learn about skin health and DH, the latest in CD research, modifying
a gluten-free diet for other health issues, the relationships between family
and food, and more.
Saturday evening is a special a time at the Pennies from Heaven fund raising
Dinner, an event with fabulous gluten free food, a live auction and plenty of
fun
Sunday, physicians will facilitate a network of roundtable discussion groups
where attendees may ask questions and get them answered.
Exhibits will be open Friday and Saturday. There are always new companies and
products for attendees to learn about. Watch for fun activities with the
exhibitors.
Leadership Training - leaders of GIG Branches, Partner groups and others will
attend the Second Annual Leadership Training Day on Thursday. The free full
day program provides leaders with skills and information to help them serve
their local areas effectively. Subjects include: coping strategies to be a
supportive leader; publicity and promotions; Branch roles in GIG strategic plan;
etc. Time is provided for open discussions among the Branch and Partner leaders
for sharing ideas and materials.
Leadership Training day ends with a relaxing fun evening with a cooking
challenge - Smoke vs. Iron. Hosts are Tim and Marcie Coda; Aaron Flores is the
moderator. Space is limited and Registration is required.
Registration rates for this conference are 15% lower than 2005.
