Thanks for the interesting post.  What got me started
on all this was this book,

Blood and Thunder: The Epic Story of Kit Carson and
the Conquest of the American West.

It's an outstanding book that covers a lot of history
throughout your region, and is filled with interesting
information on the Native Americans who occupied the
area.  The author discusses the Apaches several times
in the book.

Amazon just released it in soft cover for about $10. I
highly recommend it.
