Hello All:

I received a call from someone who is running the latest version of Open
Book with an HP 1400 Series scanner. Here is what happens.

When he scans a document after starting Open Book, he gets a window
popping up on his screen. It appears to be a window that has controls
for the HP scanner in it. What it does is pop up on top of the Open
Book window so he can't read what he has just scanned unless he presses
alt-tab to get back to the Open Book window.

What I'm wondering is how can I get the HP scanner to operate in the
background so this window doesn't pop up and interfere with my client's
work? I looked both in the scan settings and advanced settings of Open
Book as well as the Open Book help menu and cannot find anything to
address this problem. I went to www.hp.com and tried finding product
manuals for the HP 1400 series, but the closest thing I find is the HP
PSC 1400 All In One products and this is not what he has. And finally,
I googled HP 1400 series and couldn't find anything to help me there.
So, if anyone has ideas of what I can do to help my client get his
scanner to operate in background and not interfere with Open Book, I'd
appreciate hearing them.

Thanks,
