INFORMATION SERVICES SPECIALIST 

Macro International Inc., is a professional services
firm offering high quality research, management
consulting and information technology services
supporting business and government. 

Macro is seeking an Information Services Specialist to
work in its small downtown Silver Spring office
(accessible to Silver Spring metro station), providing
information and referrals on assistive technology and
rehabilitation equipment for people with disabilities.
Duties will include: 

Respond to information inquiries regarding disability
and aging issues via telephone, e-mail, and other
media.
 
Develop and write Fact Sheets and other documents
about products for people with disabilities. 
Research and write a monthly new products column for a
national magazine. 

Write and update abstracts for ABLEDATA, an
internationally-recognized database of information
about products for people with disabilities. 
Attend local and out-of town meetings, conferences,
and events to present papers and workshops or staff
exhibit booths (up to four per year). 
Assist with maintaining the information content of the
award-winning ABLEDATA Web site
(http://www.abledata.com). 

Track, organize, and file incoming product
information. 

Organize and maintain office files, supplies and
materials; monitor and change toner cartridges and
paper supplies for fax machine and copier, and assist
with other office management tasks as assigned. 
Assist with other project duties as assigned. 
This is an excellent opportunity for a person with an
interest in aging and disability issues and education
in psychology, sociology, special education, health
education or related field. Must have Bachelor's
degree; prior research experience; computer literacy
(Windows environment) with database experience a plus;
excellent oral and written communication skills, with
demonstrable writing and editing capability;
familiarity with Internet research; ability to manage
multiple projects and meet specified deadlines;
ability to lift 30 pounds and reach overhead shelves;
and the ability to work as part of a team and
independently as required. Prior experience in the
aging/disability field a plus. 

Bilingual applicants - either Sign Language (ASL) or
Spanish - especially welcome. 

Macro offers an excellent compensation and benefits
