I am not sure of your question. If you are adding a second hard disk, you
will need a second SATA cable (and power connector). Unlike IDE, each SATA
drive needs a separate data cable. As far as I know, there are no
differences in SATA cables, other than the physical shape of the connector -
and that is not a compatibility issue, just a preference of design.

I bought a retail MOBO that came with 1 SATA cable for my hard drive which
