Thanks for the advice David.  Seems to be difficult to do what you suggested in Win98. The option for TCP/IP protocol is not available in 98. My solution was to upgrade the OS to XP. I did that, then followed your advice and had success. 
  Updates for 98 will be discontinued in a couple of months according to WindowsUpdate site.    Thanks again.
