And if you're VERY VERY handy you can do as I did and get a replacement fan
from a place such as Eagle Electronics (which appears to be defunct) and go
that route. Just have to match the size and voltage and all the other
parameters. Then follow all the usual precautions about electricity and
sticking your fingers and screwdrivers where you shouldn't. Oh, and
unplugging the thing. The fan cost me like two bucks. Again, as previously
mentioned, Dells can be proprietary in trying to fit off the shelf power
supplies. www.pcpowercooling.com used to sell replacements that fit. Great
products too.

It is not too hard, but is only useful if the fan never made any noises.
Get instructions in you need them.
I would not run the machine with this problem as other parts of the PS might
fail
and send large voltage surges into the computer. That could fry other parts.
