Hi all,
I wrote a letter to Carrabas trying to encourage them to carry Gluten free
pasta. I was hoping to get them to look at the need to keep a few bags of
it in the back so that maybe we could order pasta at their restaurant.
Unfortunately the person who got my letter misunderstood me, however, it
provided me with some great information. They will cook OUR pasta that we
bring with us. This was a response to a "comment" on their website, so I do
not have a corporate name to pass on.
I have responded and am hoping to get a name and more information. Here is
the response from carrabas...
Dear Elaine,
We have looked at different brands of whole wheat pasta but have not
found any that have the right texture or flavor profile for our recipes.
Whole wheat pasta has lower gluten content than pasta made with white
flour so it is difficult to cook al dente, which is how we serve our
pasta. However, if you would like to bring your favorite brand of whole
wheat pasta into the restaurant, the cooks would be happy to cook it for
you.
Sincerely,
Your friends at Carrabba's
Again...you can see they didn't "get it" about the gluten free/no wheat
part. However, it is good to know they will cook our pasta.
