The wireless routers should not be much of an interference factor. If
the noise is intermittent as you describe I would suspect something
starting like a motor or something. Microwave ovens can make this kind
of noise. Do a search on the ARRL site for rfi and the like and you can
possibly get some tips. Otherwise, record a clip of the noise and
absence of same and if you will send it to someone on the list privately
we may be able to identify it in some way.

well from when i had a wireless card i think there are wireless routers
around here, i don't know what else but every now and then particularly
on friday nights when i'm trying to listen to the 80s show, there is
something that sounds like somebody is running a mixer or starting their
car but its for maybe 5 seconds, then it stops for 2 and redoes it..
