Hi Howard.

I think we are in general agreement on your main point, here.

On your last question, I have seen this on a couple of systems at work, and 
have never figured out quite why it happens.  Perhaps, as I read on, 
someone else will come up with the answer.  But I can tell you that the 
majority of the systems that I work with don't truncate these names, but a 
few stubbornly do, and it irks me as much as you when it happens.  If 
anyone can shed some light on it, I'm all ears.
