If the system is using WPA (Product Activation), booting
the HD in a different machine will cause it to become un-activated,
and then it would be harder to fix the original machine.
They "could" test it as a slave in "any" machine...
When they said "boot" here, they actually meant "POST".
The machine is "totally" dead.
