It stemmed from when the station ownership was sold I think back in the thirties.

  How could they switch from a W call to a K call when they are east of the 
  Mississippi?  If they had the K call from the beginning they would have been 
  grandfathered in as KDKA in Pittsburgh is, but they shouldn't be able to do 
  the reverse.
