Hi.

Before I moved to Rochester, I lived in Bergen, NY about a mile and a half
out of town, and had the same situation--no sidewalks and people were
driving at the kind of speeds that are common on the open road. I just
stayed well off the pavement and kept out of their way. It was tough to
convince the dog that she should walk on the left shoulder, though, and it
took awhile to convince her to treat that route differently from the rest.

I find that when my dog tends to act up is when I'm walking along yakking
on the HT and not paying a lot of attention to her. Almost like having a
girlfriend!
