This is getting confusing.  I don't know what cords icom uses.  I can tell 
you positively, I own both radios, and I've owned about ten kenwoods over 
the years.  All of their radios until the 48 used the same larger 
connector.  The 480 uses a smaller one.  Why is this so confusing.  If you 
bought a cable from icom for the 480, let us know what icom it was for. 
Any icoms I've seen, use the same older or larger cord, same as Kenwood 
used.
Again, I repeat, the 480 is a different cord!!!!!!
