An M3U file is not an MP3 file, and neither is a PLS file, as far as I know.
It's a text file containing a list of MP3 files that are to be opened in the
order in which they're listed. The file type M3U is normally associated with
WinAmp. A file with an extension of M3U can be opened in any text editor
like Notepad.

I think it is also.

Is an PLS file the same as an MP3 file?
