Icom had a portable rig about the size of a Braille n speak which had a
hand held microphone that produced 1 watt on 2 m ssb and also did fm.
It did not remain long in the market. This was in the early to mid 1970
time frame.

Thank you!

To my knowledge, there are only a couple of HT's that have ever been
produced that would do SSB. One was a line that was marketed by
several companies in the U.S. and made by, I think, Mizuho (or
something like that), another by Tokyo High Power, and finally,n HT
sold as Santec LS-202. All of these are obscure, and none is made
anymore, I don't think; if an SSB handheld *is* made, it isn't sold
anywhere in North America. Too bad, really--I think it'd be kind of fun.
