Most physicians tend to provide enough radioactive iodine to ensure that
the thyroid is destroyed. Some physicians will leave try to leave some
thyroid activity so that the thyroid can supply some control, however, in
any case your friend will have to take a thyroid supplement for the rest of
their life. This is what i have been doing for the past 7 years. It
really is a very small imposition on my life in that it took a while to get
the proper dose, but once that was done and my physician agreed that i
could make small adjustments as i found neccessary, there is very little
else to do. The only thing your friend should do is to have his/her eyes
checked annually by an opthamologist who is familiar with the effects of
Grave's because Grave's can cause some changes to the eyes. Other than
that, i can't think of anything else that i have to do about Grave's.

Because a liar tells the truth does not mean the truth is a lie.
