Sorry about the delay in replying to this--and for not having anything very definite to say. It's already been pointed out that leptin is the very powerful appetite suppressing hormone. Four hours after having some clear broth, you'd be in a fasting state, so leptin would be expected to be low, and appetite high. I suspect that the "normal range" must represent the whole range of leptin levels, from keen hunger to utter satiety. I'm only surmising this, however. I haven't looked up anything about the norms for the reference range.
