For those of you that live in the NJ area, there is grass fed
tenderloins, full tenderloins, for sale at $5.99/lb. I didn't see
this in my weekly flyer, but saw it at the store today. Without a
free club card it is $9.99/lb.
A few weeks ago it was in the flyer for $4.88/lb. I bought one,
sliced it up, and froze most of it. To cook I very briefly saute it
in some oil. Just enough to get it brown on the outside. This leaves
the inside mostly raw.
The label simply states that it is grass fed and from Australia. The
question that leaves is it grass finished? So I asked Ben Balzer. His reply:
"Unfortunately, the percentage of grain finished beef is increasing
in Australia- it was only 3% 8 years ago and mainly for export. If
they sold it as grass-fed it would not be grain finished."
Don.
