Products like "Encasement" are high build elastomerics, fine indoors,
problematic outdoors on wood because they can trap moisture. I have had
success in limited areas like window sills in wood-framed walls, but
even there I consider it an expedient temporary stabilization that
should be replaced with long term sill repairs within 2-3 years in the
north, 1 year in the south. I would not use them on wood sills in
masonry walls if there was any chance of rising damp in the masonry.
