Hi
I obviously haven't been keeping up with butternut. At one time they sold a
"tuned radial kit" which was essentially four wires that I believe took care
of 40 through 10. They were flexible and would have to be laid on a roof or
something. I gather the counterpoise is a totally different arrangement.
Does it deal with anything below 40 meters?
I enjoyed my cushcraft r8 but after going through two of them because of
wind problems I will have to look for something sturdier.
I have been lead to believe that the butternut is much easier to set up if
you have an analyzer. I thought that all bands could be adjusted from the
base but apparently changing one band effects the resonant point for others.
E-hams had some rather interesting reviews.
If I have missed the boat I'd be curious. A self supporting (really self
supporting) vertical with a counterpoise might be on my wish list.
speaking of wish list, has anyone found any small hf beams that they were
particularly happy with? I used the good old ta33 jr a number of years ago
and was happy but wonder if there is anything similar or smaller out there.
I have tried the butternut hf6B and it was a bear to tune on 20 and there
wasn't much front to back.
