I only have the Internet manual but found it in a very obscure location. 
Section 9 - Remote Control Operation - Page 40 - Entering A Frequency 
Directly.

As noted, my wife is holding the radio for a Christmas gift so I haven't 
tried it.  I found that my ADI 247 also allows direct entry but I don't like 
the transmit audio.
