Teri,

depression is perpetuated by triggering events as you already know.  Going
for walks, doing something to keep busy, and many other such things help but
mostly if it is discouragement one is experiencing.  Depression won't go
away doing such activities.  Finding the lies that cause the depression and
hearing the truth from the Lord, will stop depression eventually.
