I'm a new lurker here on the listsever and thought I'd take a few minutes to
add my two cents to the conversation about bread machines.
About a month ago I bought a VitaMix food processor for approximately $300.
This machine slices, dices, blends, juices, etc. One of the recipes in the
booklet that came with it tells how to make gluten-free bread. This machine
can be used to make your own rice-flour and then mix the dough for baking.
Since getting the VitaMix, I've pretty much cut out everything for breakfast
except for a fruit drink. I usually take three or four pieces of different
fruits and blend them in the VitaMix as a breakfast drink. This machine
will completely pulverize the fruit. I've found it best to add about four
ounces of water to the fruit to get a nice large glass of juice. The recipe
booklet that came with it includes many fruit and vegetable drinks/mixes.
About the only down-side to the VitaMix is that it's really noisy when used
on the high setting. I wear earplugs when using it.
If anyone's interested, I can provide a phone number and I'm sure they'll be
more than happy to send a brouchure.
PS - I don't work for or have stock in VitaMix <g>!!!
