Kathy,
Whenever I've booked a flight on-line they have an area to fill out for
disability assistance if you like. I've never checked it and just used my
cane real time and have had no issue. In fact one time I decided to take
them up on the little electric cart cause it was a long way to go and wound
up waiting for the right cart to come by for like 45 minutes. I then
started walking and just asked someone where the baggage was and I followed
them there. In short, usually always, the flight attendants will ask you
upon exiting when traveling alone if you need assistance but you need a
cane or something so they know you have a disability by sight. I'd not
recommend the wheel chair, I have traveled with someone with one and I
found it to be more time consuming. Just tell the folks when you check your
ticket at the gate you like assistance from gate to gate on your transfers
and you'll have someone just walk you down. If they call for a cart, tell
them you can walk, it'll be faster. If you get hard pressed and can't find
a ride, and I'm kind of speaking out of turn per se here but, let me know I
can see if I can find someone to get you there.
