An interesting thread.
My first station was a dx100u with an a r 88 d receiver with a g 5 r v
antenna.

I worked loads with that between 1969 and 1975.

Phil, your D X experiences sound like mine.  I worked my first 165 countries

using a D X 100 at about 100 watts and all but one or two were on 20.  R X 
was a Drake 2 b.  I burned out on D X in late 70s with around 310 confirmed.
