Hi Russ,

They do not have a tuning knob.  Just up and down buttons although there are
two sets on the GR, one inside the other for smaller steps.  I don't know
about the original 7600.  As far as accessibility, aside from storing things
into memory which is fairly straight forward, nothing else from menus is
accessible such as setting the clock or alarms or things like that.  Of
course the frequency can be entered from the key pad and switches on the
side control SSB or synch reception, tone and the like.  It does have an RF
gain.

In terms of accessibility, I find my E1 much more accessible and can set
clocks, timers, etc. by myself.
