                           HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

********************************************************

Good morning, John.

By access, I meant that people automatically assume that republicans are racist so they will be more suspicious of them and their motives; they assume that democrats are not and that's just not true. There is a difference between blacks making statements like that about the unfortunate reality of life as a black person and whites making statements like that; whites making those statements reinforces the information in their minds and is one more brick in the institution of racism, unconscious, silent or otherwise. We have to be constantly vigilant about such things; we can't always do anything about it, but we need the intel so as not to be surprised by anything they do.

Racially insensitive. Don't believe the hype, John, that it's not about race. It is. They want us to minimize the effects of their racial insensitivity and lack of racial awareness because then they don't have to do anything about it and can't be held accountable. We can not let that happen, if just for our children's sake. Some young college students today (and not just the republicans) feel that blacks are only on campus because of affirmative action and that they don't belong there.

If these issues are not addressed, what will happen to them? They don't go away, they get worse and persist even longer. I am as tired as the next person of having to turn things into 'teaching moments.' They're not paying me to teach them, but if that helps increase awareness, then that's what I'll do.

This took a great deal of time."
