While Dr. Cohen's diet plan is certainly not Paleo, it's nice to see there
are some general practitioners whose dietary advice is much better than
average (it's nice to see a doctor give any dietary advice at all, for that
matter). Not many doctors advise avoiding all bread and pasta. Dr. Cohen was
my parent's doctor until he moved to a different state.


***Dr. Dean Cohen’s Low Carb, Low Fat Weight Loss Plan***
120-150 carbs per day

BREAKFAST
High protein, low carb drink (Edge, Carb Solutions, Metabolift, sugarfree
Carnation Instant Breakfast)
Fruit (apple)

LUNCH
Large salad with either 2 oz lean meat, poultry, fish or shellfish (baked,
grilled, or broiled) or 1 oz shredded light cheese
One tablespoon low-fat dressing of choice
½ can Healthy Valley Soup (any variety)
Fruit serving of choice

DINNER
4 oz lean meat, poultry, fish or shellfish (baked, grilled or broiled)
Vegetables or salad w/ one tablespoon of low-fat dressing of choice
½ can Healthy Valley Soup
Fruit serving

ALSO ALLOWED
Diet soda—equal or saccharin to sweeten coffee or tea
Margarine (no butter)
2-3 eggs per week—cottage cheese—skim milk

AVOID THE FOLLOWING FOODS:
Breads, pastas, rice, white potatoes (half a sweet potato is OK)
Baked goods, candy, sugar, honey
Beets, more than 1 carrot per day
Bananas, raisins, watermelon, grapes
Beer and alcohol, regular soda
