Personally, I tend to think that we are responsible. We find plastics/soots
in the arctic/antarctica. If you think about the iridium layer which
blanketed the earth though to be deposited after the large (single event)
meteorite/comet hit the earth theorized to signal the end of the dinosaurs
(presumable from climatic change), it seems unsurprising that man is capable
of a tremendous spread of material or gases around the planet - every day,
year in and year out. To think that it has no effect seems to me to be
wishful thinking.
