Yeah, dried fruit is a killer. Try a fresh fruit. More volume so you feel
fuller. But it is actually easier to avoid all fruit for a while than to
nibble the occasional sweet. Some vegetables like carrots, most roots
really, also are pretty high carb.
I never thought of carrots as sweet before doing low carb. Now they taste
distinctly sweet, even though I am not doing the extreme low carb much any
more.
You might want to get an Atkins book. He has lots of advice on low carb. A
lot of it is not paleo, but it isn't a bad way to get started, and you can
cut out the non paleo foods easily later. I would avoid the Atkins junk
foods though, all those bars and shakes or whatever.
I never felt weak or down in low carb, even the first day felt great. I
distinctly remember going jogging that day and feeling really great, I
didn't get tired and was able to go my whole distance without getting
winded. Before that I had been trying to build up and had hit a barrier that
I just couldn't break. Run 40 minutes and feel faint from hunger. But with
low carb/high fat I felt I could just keep running, and soon built up to
60-70 minutes and a better pace too.
