I don't know.  Maybe it isn't for all people.  Maybe it's a biochemical 
exception.  But I'll tell you this much: I come from a mixture of north 
european and eastern european stock, and I never had any interest in 
coconut of any kind until a few months ago.  Now I eat a tablespoon of the 
oil each day, sometimes smeared on something like a banana, or used as a 
cooking oil for ham slices, etc.  I have also experimented with various 
recipes for coconut water and milk drinks, and it turns out I like it a 
lot.  I have eaten the meat, water, milk, and oil.  I have eaten it raw, 
cooked, and blended.  No ill effects whatsoever, except maybe a slight 
sugar rush from a big coconut milkshake, which I guiltily enjoy.
