I remember when we were in israel, my family went to the red sea, I knew how to swim becuz my mom had been a lifeguard at girl scout camp, anyhow, as soon as the lifeguards saw me going in the water they freaked out. but my mom, bless her rabid soul, yelled right back at them in hebrew! she told them i knew how to swim, that the lifeguards in calif didn't bother me, and they shouldn't jump to conclusions just becuz i moved funny. We enjoyed the water and my back, which I had injured in the spring and had to wear a corset for 8 weeks, was much better.

I like to think that ignorance is behind most stupidity, rather than sheer meaness. If I could still walk on sand, if I went alone, (becuz of my speech) I'd carry some cards with me, simply explaining i have a disability, i enjoy the beach, it's my right to come here, and if they want to evict me from the beach, i'll take them to court. something simple like that. You can make business-sized cards on your computer in WORD or MS Picture It... or you can get "free" cards from vistapint.com. All you pay for is shipping.

Or... I could design you a tee-shirt, with a similar message.

Mag
