Hi Richard,
If you are looking for a stand alone unit you may take a look at the
PlexTalk PTR-2. It's a portable digital recorder that is completely
accessible and it records in the Daisy format, MP3, and you can burn your
own music CDs, and I'm sure it does much more. It's a little pricy but you
get what you pay for. You can get more info on it at www.irti.net
Good Luck,
Gary, KT5GS

Hi;
It seems I wasn't the only one with mp3 questions. My nontechnical problem
is that the computer and cassette deck are on opposite sides of the house.
The stereo is the type that the cassette decks are built into the receiver.
Anything can be moved but it sounds like work. I was hoping for a stand
alone unit to convert older cassettes into mp3 or wav c d . At some point
this stereo will find a new home and with it goes my cassette deck. If I
get ambitious, there would be no need for another cassette deck.
