HD radio transmissions are amazingly clear. As to cost, the receiver prices 
are coming down, but HD radios are still a bit pricy. This having been said, 
however, I bought my Polk I-Sonic entertainment system for $600, which is 
only $100 over what the comparable Bose tabletop radio / CD player has been 
selling for the past five or six years. I believe that Boston Acoustic is 
now selling an HD tabletop radio for around $200.
