I think you are talking about the ft 727.  I have a friend that has two of 
those thing still.  A real brick.  The best yeasu that I had was a ft2700. 
The voice board for it even read out the pl tones.  and I think it was the 
first dual band mobile.  A while back.

have one of these and though a brick compared to the newer rigs, was

Perhaps my favorite though a single bander was the tentec (2095) I
