K.C., I believe Sir Aggo was just relaying a message from the BBC. Let's
not kill the messenger. There are a lot of issues that need to be discussed
by all of us.

Subject: Re: Sierra Leone tests a troubled region

Can we avoid negative stories on any of our African countries?
What are we doing up here to help our brothers and sisters suffering
down there? Will reading these articles and not doing anything about it
solve any problems? I would like to read from this e-mail system about
AAM voices on how we can help Sierra Leone, and what we can do to stop
the fight! Nigeria has done this, Liberia has done that will not solve
anything. Let us not take pride in reading about the weakness or short
coming of any of our countries. That doesn't mean that we shouldn't be
aware of the facts, but ask yourself what could be done to make the
situation better!! If you cannot do anything about it, pray for them,
wish them well and don't be eager to read or publish another bad story
about them.
Although we are here in America, we can not forget where we came
from. Reading about these articles and folding our hands means laughing
at our own people. I am yet to see positive stories about Africa in
general carried out by the media. Whenever you hear anything about us,
it's something negative and we should not encourage it!!! Despite the
problems and hardships that our motherland is facing, I'm sure there are
some good things going on there. I'll say that because I just came back
from there last week. If the media will not talk good about us, let's
talk good about us. Let us encourage eachother. Because of the
situation in Sierra Leone people are starving, you know. We could
contribute some money up here and send to them or buy some food and
medical materials and ship to them. I hope somebody will look into
this.
