I started Kurzweil 1000 version 10 and then opened the PDF file, having
downloaded it previously.  K1000 began recognizing it, one page at a time,
and then began reading the first page while recognition continued on
subsequent pages.  No virtual printers or anything like that.  Just as with
OmniPage, it is a rather slow process, taking a few minutes for that file.
