Some pertinent but brief generalisations, about histories with which we are familiar: USA, UK and Empire under Victoria, France, Holland:
USA which got their Independence some 231 years ago have gone far past Europe, as far as “integration” goes, at all levels, including the military.
In European countries which had colonies, the colonial mentality persists, to some extent in both the coloniser and those who were colonised.
In Europe the UK is the most successful in absorbing former colonial subjects, followed by Holland and France.
Sweden did not have colonies and therefore until recently was not used to the presence of people from Africa South of the Sahara.
In Sweden we have Nyamko Sabuni. In France, her equivalent is Rachida Dati.
Both cases show that - “against all odds” success is possible, even for a darkie.
The focus in this Forum has been on immigration policy and immigrants.
