Hi everyone -
A friend recommended Alkolol for chronic sinus infections - you can
use it as a nasal wash, gargle for sore throat, and more -- OTC, uses
herbs - sounded great!! I emailed the company and found out that
wheat is used to make their caramel coloring. So I thought I would
warn everyone - what goes in your nose could easily drain down the
digestive tract. Alkolol isn't listed on any of the GF medicine
lists as either containing or not containing gluten, so this is
information that isn't currently widely available. By the way, I had
read that caramel coloring can contain wheat, but this is the first
time I have encountered this.
A question about vitamin B5 - my dietician friend said that in food
it is found in whole grains. Does that mean that B5 might be a
problem when it is listed as an ingredient in a supplement, as a
vitamin fortification, or ingredient in lip gloss/lotion? Does
anyone know whether it is commonly derived from wheat or barley? I
always do my due diligence, but I like to be able to ask about
specific ingredients on a label.
Thanks.
