Rene,
A good one! If you won't mind, I would like to dedicate your poem to Seedia, Halipha and Sam.
Many thanks

I have used some of the phrases from previous postings to come up with this
poem.
You raise your voices
and abhor the vices
it bedevils the mind
you inspire a nation
to rise up, rise up
and cast away the yoke
of hopelessness
of poverty and misery.
You ignite the flames
of civic passion
instill a burning desire
of selfless action
and they voraciously satiate
from the fountain of knowledge
that gush out from your mighty pen.
You ripple the calm waters
and amid the storm
you sail gently to shore
with your powerful insights
your clever polemics
with your fervent critique
you lay bare
the decay and backwardness
of the political dispensation of the day.
If those
who butchered our expectations
If those
who unfulfilled our yearnings
If those
who dampened our aspirations
and defrauded our resources
have eased the poverty
and alleviate the misery
the quality of life
we so desperately needs
would have been paid for.
Rene
